HOME OF THE SPARTANS
CLAREMONT ATHLETICS
Welcome to the homepage for the Claremont Spartans Athletics Program. Based out of Victoria BC, the Claremont Spartans are proud to represent a Tradition of Sporting Excellence.
Claremont Intramurals wrapped up Thursday afternoon beginning with a lopsided Bronze Medal Victory by Team 3, blowing out Team 2 by a final score of 8-2.
The Gold Medal match came down right down to the final minute, when Team 4 scored a late goal to come within 1, but it was too little too late as Team 5 managed to hold on to the 2-1 victory - officially becoming the first Intramural Champions at Claremont. Way to go Team 5, and Go Spartans! |
Senior Soccer intramurals continued on Tuesday, as Team 1 exited the tournament with a whimper after losing 2-0 to Team 3. In semi-final action, Teams 4 and 5 managed to punch their tickets to the Gold Medal match with wins over Team 2 and 3 (respectively). The tournament wraps up on Thursday, December the 17th when Team 2 faces off against Team 3 for Bronze in the penultimate match, followed by the grand finale - Team 4 vs Team 5 to see who takes home the Gold and the glory. Go Spartans!

Team 4 booked their ticket to the Gold Medal game with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over Team 2.
In other news, Team 1 is also headed for the Gold Medal game after a stunning 2-1 victory over Team 3. Team 2 will take on Team 3 in the Bronze game on Wednesday, followed Team 1 vs Team 4 in what is shaping up to be an exciting Gold Medal Match. Go Spartans! |
Our Senior Spartans shined in their first week of action, with teams 2, 4, and 5 coming away with major wins. In a day with plenty of scoring, Thursday's action saw impressive goals from Grads Kennedy McAdams and Jordy Neary. Play continues on Tuesday, December 8th when Team 4 looks to build on their narrow lead, and Teams 1 & 3 look for their first win. Go Spartans!

While attendance was much lower than previous years (and the format altered slightly), smiling faces were once again visible in the gym at Claremont Secondary for the 2019/2020 Athletic Awards. While only those receiving major awards (and their respective family members) were invited, we are proud to honor our winners, our nominees, and all of our athletes for the successes throughout the year. Go Spartans, and we can't wait to see you next year! Photos by Ms. Wong. |

The school is eerily quiet with so many teams away at their respective Provincial Championships this week. The Girls Curling team has had two big comebacks fall just short (5-7 versus Kitimat, and 6-7 versus Chilliwack). They look to get back on track tonight against Van Tech at 7:30 (the game can be live streamed from HERE on Sheet 4).
In other news, the Senior Boys Basketball team won their first game of the Provincial Championships, narrowly edging Holy Cross 69-67. A double-double from Ethan Boag (19-13) and strong rebounding from Nik Babaeff and Jakob Neufeld allowed the boys to take their opening game. The boys resume play this evening (March 5th) at 8:15 when they take on #3 seed Kelowna. Stay tuned for more... |
February was a busy month for Spartan success, and it appears that March will be no different, as more athletes are headed off to their respective Provincial Championships this week. Good luck to our Swimmers (Victoria), the Girls Curling team (Kelowna), the Senior Boys Basketball team (Langley), and the Junior & Senior Boys Lacrosse teams who head to Vancouver (and subsequently Las Vegas for 19 of the Senior Boys). GO SPARTANS!
